A Trip Down Memory Lane
OK, so I guess when things aren't going the way we want, we tend to look towards the past or the future. Perhaps that is why I have taken to wearing my high school class ring on a regular basis and thinking about good times that were had (and the good times still to come).
Weirdly, as I started to get into this mode, pictures of me from high school have surfaced. This is always strange, since I look at myself and think, wow, I was so naive. How did I even survive life being that naive?!
Plus, my hair was really short. Perhaps I should chop my hair again?
It's funny too, because when you find pictures of yourself from years ago, sometimes you don't even remember the picture being taken. This is the case with me, of course. The pictures are from the non-denominational youth group I frequented, but I really have no idea when the pictures were taken. Plus, I am wearing something different in each, so I know they were taken at different times. Weird.
If you want to see the pictures, head over to Dan's website: http://www.umit.maine.edu/~daniel.thomas/Maine/WebImage/Shen/Shen.html

I tend to think the photos date somewhere to around late 2000 or early 2001, not really sure myself. Looking at the photos I'm in, I've certainly changed a bit, although still the hair's short (for the bike of course). It certainly is true that we all tend to rely on our past when the times get tough to remember what good times feel like. Now, just so all know, Becca actually made the photos surface by reminding me an old mutual friend had them on his site, so those on mine are really from his (with permission of course).
I do believe that a lot of what has happened to me and still is had its seeds sown in Campus Life and the other non-pictured venture that Becca and I were part of, The Shen Pen. So the past plays a big role, and although it seems funny, it really does make sense. Much like one chooses their friends, one also chooses what happens in life, and that is heavily based on their historical trends.
As far as being naive, I think we all were naive coming out of Shen, and we survived because well... I'm not sure myself. I'd say His plan for all of us has a lot ot do with that survival, and continues to. Short hair, long hair, something in-between, it's hair, nothing more, nothing less, so I wouldn't do it if you're thinking that short hair equals immediate good times, but it's funny to ponder hypothetically that. Of course, I'm saying that having had the same style for what, 10 or 12 years now, so I'm not one to probably make a point on hair one way or the other...
Anyhow, I hope people find this trip down the past interesting, as Becca and I have...

My goodness gracious...that reminded me of times from quite a while ago. Seeing people wear Respect Club shirts and be in the old Clubhouse seems a bit surreal now (even though I still sometimes wear my own Respect Club shirt). I was never as close to people from the Clifton Park Campus Life as you were, Becca, but I definitely had some good times in the Clubhouse.
I hope that your life offers a bit more hope soon than it has been lately. Just remember that trusting in God means knowing that everything will be Okay in the end. Unfortunately, that often doesn't mean easy.

If you are thinking of getting a la salle ring, order through jostens and not american collegiate. Adam & I (along with about 100) people all had several problems with our rings. Even now, it's not exactley what I want, but it's better than what it was.
Please dont' chop off your hair-it looks pretty. However, at least then you would have a Pete the Barber story (just kidding!).
