Talk about an OOPS....
I couldn't make this up even if I tried.
So on Tuesday morning I was doing work in the main office of the church, when the Church Administrator walks in, obviously upset. This is the conversation that ensued:
Him: How do you feel about taking apart the Annual Reports and substituting in a new page 18 and then putting them back together this morning?
Me: (thinking about how it took us almost four hours to put them together in the first place) Um, I don't feel that great about it. What's the problem?
Him: Well, there's a typo on page 18.
Me: Why don't we just announce it at the congregational meeting rather than doing all that?
Him: We can't announce this typo.
Me: Why not?
I then had the opportunity to see the typo in question. On page 18, a sentence was supposed to read "Keep our shut-ins in your thoughts and prayers."
What it actually read, to our dismay, was "Keep our sh*t-ins in your thoughts and prayers."
My first reaction was to laugh hysterically. Then my reaction quickly turned to a groan.
Apparently, there were already congregation members that had signed the booklets out and had called in to the church to tell us about the "potentially embarrassing typo on page 18." So we spent 2 more hours taking apart all 87 packets and substituting in a new page 18. Good times.

Oh dear, that was definitely a typo that should have been corrected. Isn't that what "spellcheck" is for?

Yes, it's not something one wants to let be, but honestly, Becca not the first to find the i key instead of the u... All I know is that stinks that you had to spend two hours fixing all the booklets...

oh that is too funny! i just would have announced the change from the pulpit - it would probably be the least offensive thing the congregation ever heard me say!
